4 min read

The ranking is based on technology developments, entrepreneurship, and impactful education. It's also based on the metrics, frequency of observations or reviewing their papers accidentally occasionally, alumni founders, design thinking, technology developments, innovations, impacts on top startup ecosystems, and business management contributions.

#01 University of Oxford

Impacts: Life Science, Art, Economics, Politics, Entrepreneurship

Review: The university is the pioneer in immunology, biotech, vaccine developments, and developing Avant-grade executive business programs for leaders, managers, entrepreneurs, and investors. Rising biotech founders, new biotech VC investors, a few US presidents, and many UK prime ministers are Oxford alumni. Biotech and medtech startups are heavy-lift startups due to regulations, clinical trials, and patent issues (Bleys, 2022, Freeman, 2021)

#02 Stanford University

Impacts: Design, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Life Science, Economics

Review: Nearest to Silicon Valley, 1st in the tech startup ecosystem, A complete university with Google cofounders alumni reputation. Stanford Pioneers in entrepreneurship, engineering, design thinking, some medicine areas, and medical technologies like Simvascular project and Heartflow company. But Stanford alumni reportedly suffer from mental health issues probably due to high pressure and high expectations from them. Silicon valley is formed near Stanford (School of System Change, 2021).

#03 Harvard University

Impacts: Life Science, Economics, Politics, Entrepreneurship

Review: Billionaire Founders like Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and high-impact medical scientists like Pardis Sabeti are Harvard Alumni. Harvard Business Review also greatly impacts business matters, corporations, management, and leadership. Harvard also developed different entrepreneurial programs.

#04 University of Cambridge

Impacts: Environmental Science, Engineering, Technology, Economics, Entrepreneurship

Review: Best atmospheric science and climate change publications belong to Cambridge. Cambridge excels at sustainable leadership for engineering, technology development, and for business and entrepreneurship. Alan Turning, the father of Artificial Intelligence is an alumnus of Cambridge.

#05 University of Pennsylvania

Impacts: Design, Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Economics

Review: Wharton School, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Nadar Engheta are enough to show the output and impact of the University of Pennsylvania globally for technology, politics, economics, and entrepreneurship.

#06 University of California (Berkeley)

Impacts: Engineering, technology, Economics, Entrepreneurship

Review: Financial engineering at Haas Business School rocks here because they're ranked 1st in financial engineering (Girard, 2020). Are you interested in Wall Street and Fintech Startups? Fintech has a noticeable impact on life and economics for crypto and equal rights in both developed and developing countries. Steve Wozniak, the Apple cofounder is also an alumnus of UC Berkeley.

#07 Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Impacts: Design, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Environmental Science

Review: Edward Lorenz was the professor of atmospheric science and climate change that first explained the butterfly effect and chaos theory (Chang, 2008). MIT has a noticeable footprint in technology development, NASA, management, founders, and entrepreneurship. MIT IDM, and MIT Media Lab are trailblazing in new topics and research. The billionaire founder of FTX company for cryptocurrency is also an alumnus of MIT (Rooney, 2022). However, FTX suddenly lost its VC investors like Sequioa Capital (Lee, 2022), and FTX founder filed Chapter 11 for bankruptcy (Sigalos, 2022).

#08 London Imperial College

Impacts: Design, Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Economics

Review: Dyson School of Design Engineering is ranked 1st in DS Review for Top 9 Design Schools already (Saatchi, 2022). www.dotplot.com is a startup founded by a female student who found an anomaly in her breast and made home care technology for women for early breast cancer diagnosis. Half of the world's population is women impacting more than 3.7B women's healthcare (Wang, 2022). The university is also pioneering in trauma science in Medtech development and medicine with interdisciplinary approaches with different departments collaborations.

#09 New York University

Impacts: Design, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Environmental Science

Review: New York is ranked 2nd with London after Silicon Valley in the top 10 startup ecosystems in 2022. NYU is also ranked 2nd in financial engineering. Many famous tech companies like IBM, Twitter, Etsy, and their founders are alumni of NYU (Gallager, 2022). New York is a noticeable place for expensive hardware startups. Ironically, the cost of living in NY is high as well (Home, 2017)

If you believe in the "American Dream" and you are an ambitious hardware inventor into entrepreneurship, New York is a city for you with a welcoming community of artists, engineers, scientists, and designers who get excited by hardware startups. NYU also has campuses in Abu Dabi and Shanghai to provide less costly opportunities for the middle east and eastern Asia.
